Directions for the About Me writing assignment due on Design2Learn Wed 4 Sep 11:59p

-         about yourself

-         from the point of view of another person (or object, animal)
- or use the form of a menu, recipe, film script, driving directions, game description, news story, music review, weather report, etc. to capture yourself

-         250 words

Tips for getting started:

-         list persons important to you (or objects, animals?)

-         try out ways they would describe you, worry about you, hope for your future, show their love for you, show that they understand (or misunderstand) you

-         “voice” on the page is different from a voice you hear, but trying out loud what you think those persons would say about you may help you decide which one you can best work with for this assignment

Your audience is me, your teacher, and all the other students in our section. All will be able to read (and comment on, if they wish) everyone else’s About Me. I’ll send you my comments, using this rubric, by email.

Rubric for the About Me writing assignment:

-         grammar, usage, punctuation 1-4

-         coherence and effectiveness of the writing 1-8

-         consistent use of a voice (point of view) 1-4

-         abundant information about yourself 1-4

-         ingenuity, energy, verve, readergrabbingness 1-8

Total points for the About Me writing assignment: 28

NOTE ON WRITTEN WORK (from our Syllabus):

Written work should be unified and coherent; it must use standard language, spelling, and punctuation. Use a word processing program for your assignments so you can revise and proofread them; then copy and paste into the appropriate D2L box.

Discussion entries should follow the individual directions for each of the 7 discussions, referring specifically to details of the material to be discussed, (film, book, financial presentation), using specific examples to support opinions, referring as appropriate to matters brought up by other discussion contributors.

All written assignments done outside class except for the My Freshman Experience project must be submitted on the D2L course site by the due date/time. The D2L system will not accept late work.
