Academic History:
·1956-1959: I served as a Lab Assistant for A. L. Mills, M.S. at Sibley High School in West St. Paul, MN. He wrote the chemistry book that we used in class.
·1959: I took one year of General Physics with Prof. P. Fossum at St. Olaf College during the summer.
·1960-1962: I was a member of the Research group of Prof. M. M. Kreevoy at Univ. of Minn.-mercaptans, deoxymercuration and vacuum lines. Professor W. N. Lipscomb (Nobel in Chemistry 1976) was a member of the faculty.
·1962-1963: I completed my Senior Thesis with Prof. E. A. Hill at the Univ. of Minn., kinetics.
·1963-1964: I was a member of the Research Group of Prof. R. E. Davis, time-of-flight mass spectroscopy. Prof. H. C. Brown (Nobel in Chemistry 1979) was a member of the faculty.
·1964-68: I ran the NMR Service under the direction of Prof. F. Kaplan at Univ. of Cincinnati - Varian A-60 NMR.
·1964-1965: I was a member of the Research Group of Prof. R. E. Dessy at Univ. of Cincinnati-organometallics and organic polarography.
·1965-1969: I was a member of the Research Group of Prof. D. H. McDaniel (his graduate advisor was H. C. Brown) at the Univ. of Cincinnati - ternary phase diagrams, vacuum lines, protonation of very weak bases followed by Varian A-60 NMR.
·1968-72: I was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with Prof. R. W. Taft working on the F-19 NMR of Lewis acid-base complexes at the Univ. Calif. Irvine - Varian HA-60 NMR. Prof. F. S. Rowland (Nobel in Chemistry 1995) was the Department Chairman.
·1972-74: I was a Research Associate with Prof. R. W. Murray working on singlet oxygen/ozone at the Univ. of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL)- Some work with a Hitachi-Perkin Elmer R-20 NMR.
·1974-1998: I carried out summer research with Prof. D. W. Larsen on Molecular Motion in Solids as studied by NMR and Waste Disposal via Reverse-Mode Gasification. This work was carried out at UMSL.
·1977: I worked in the Laser Group with Dr. Ralph Richardson at McDonnell-Douglas Research Labs during the summer.
·1974-1978: I was Program Manager and Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Maryville College-St. Louis (MCSL).
·1978-1982: I was the Program Director and Associate Professor of Chem. at MCSL.
·1982: I worked in the Polymer Group on Chemiluminescence with Dr. Clarence Wolf at McDonnell-Douglas Research Labs during the summer.
·1982-1991: I was the Program Director and Professor of Chemistry at MCSL.
·1991-to date: I have served as the Program Director and Professor of Chemistry at Maryville University-St. Louis.
