This is the starting point for you to improve the clarity and the readability of your writing. I'm here to help you in that process. Remember, you're not alone in having problems with writing.. Writing is probably the most difficult way to communicate, because you don't get immediate feedback to help you do it better.

Bobby Knight has an interesting, although incorrect, statement about writing. “We all learn to write in the second grade. Most of us go on to better things, but sports writers just stay with writing.” Although the quote is amusing, and expresses Mr. Knight’s views on sports writers, it is basically wrong. Based on years of grading papers turned in by college seniors (and by MBA students), they didn’t learn to write in the second grade (or any grade after the second).

 Let me give you a different statement. “In business, and in life, we are judged by what people think we know, not on what we really know.” So, what influences what people think you know? It’s your ability to communicate, and that definitely includes writing.

Many people have difficulty writing, at least in part due to the lack of feedback. This web site offers you a way to make your writing better, so that people will realize how much you know, and will understand the ideas you are trying to get across. Clearly, bad grammar and bad spelling will give people the wrong ideas. Yes, there are computer tools available, but they don’t really seem to help. Spell checkers just tell you whether you used a legitimate word, not whether it’s the right one. Grammar checkers make as many errors as you do, they’re just different ones. What you really need is an editor, someone who can take your writing and make it better!

After a career which includes twenty five years in business and twenty five years in higher education, I am uniquely qualified to review and improve your writing.
